Here are just a few things you should be looking for if you think you might need to make a change.
Their Response Time Is Slow
Sure, your MSP can’t predict downtime, outages or technical problems. It’s not that the problems happen that’s the issue, it’s their ability to respond. The longer it takes for your MSP to respond to an issue, the more it will impact your business. If they are slow, it may be time to reevaluate.
They Don’t Back Up Data
If your data is compromised, what happens to your business? You might have downtime or the consequences may be worse. Data privacy and cyber security are big issues right now, so your MSP should have a solution in place to protect your important data and that of your customers. If they don’t, that’s a huge red flag.
Their Advice Sounds Like Sales
When you do have a concern and bring it up with your MSP, how do they respond? Do they listen to your concerns and work with you to find a solution? Or do they go into sales mode describing all the things you could buy that might solve the problem. If their advice sounds like a sales pitch, they may not be the right company for you anymore.
They Don’t Have Round-the–Clock Services
While your business may not work past 5 p.m., your data doesn’t have an end time. That means it needs to be protected 24/7. If your MSP doesn’t offer this, your information could be at risk when it’s not being monitored.
You’ve Outgrown Them
Sometimes it is not about whether their services are substandard or questionable. Sometimes they could still be a great company that will work well with other organizations, but they’re just no longer a fit for you. If you’ve evolved but your MSP has not, it may be time to consider another service that will be a better match for you now.
