There are a lot of things to consider when assembling a team for your agency. You must have the top talent when it comes to recruiters. But you also need the right people handling your sales, customer relations, back office functions, and administrative duties. So how do you build a talented team for your service? It may come as a surprise, but some of the things to consider aren’t specifically related to skills. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Hire a team with similar values.

What is your company mission statement? It is imperative that every recruiter and sales person you hire for your organization lives and breathes your company values. If not, they won’t be able to represent your company brand in the way you prefer. Employees who share similar values are also better at working with one another in a team.

  • Allow everyone to be accountable for success.

Yes, management should have the final say over any project or implementation of any process, but it is essential that you give you entire staff autonomy to do their jobs. They can be personally accountable for their success rather than feel micromanaged. Give them guidelines, not exact rules to follow, and you’ll see positive results.

  • Give talent management powers down the line.

At the same time, your HR team shouldn’t be the only one responsible for overseeing and rewarding employee talent. Allow your managers to have the freedom to recognize good work as it happens. If this becomes too process oriented, you may miss out on important milestones or the engagement derived from having incentives will start to lose momentum.

  • Create a strong and effective employer brand.

Finally, in order to pull all of these items together, they must be contained under your employer branding. Who are you as a whole? How can the team identify as being a part of a successful organization? How do you present yourself to clients, candidates, and the community? Using social media, world of mouth, customer service, and more you can create a brand that speaks volumes and helps your team succeed.
