Each new year presents a new series of challenges and successes for any business. In 2019, there will be business trends we haven’t even conceived of just months before. But there are several things driving industry, and if you haven’t considered them for the coming year, now is a good time to start. What are the top business trends for 2019, and what does your business need to incorporate to be successful? Here are a few to consider.

Hiring Plan for Generation Z

It wasn’t that long ago that experts were talking of the ways to keep millennials happy on the job. But that tide has turned as the oldest of the millennials are nearing 40 and may have management positions of their own now.

The next wave of young employees is Generation Z. This young group, the oldest of which were born in the late 1990s and are just now graduating from college, are motivated to start their careers. Much like their slightly older counterparts, Gen Z isn’t motivated entirely by money. They are practical when it comes to employment, having a front row seat for the mid-2000s recession and they want to build a career with loyalty and upward mobility.

They also want to work for organizations with a strong sense of community. If your company has programs to give back, this will attract the top young talent.

Flexible Work Arrangements

You’ll hear this a lot. Companies that provide a flexible work schedule for their employees are retaining top talent. Flexibility can look like a lot of things. It can be remote working arrangements, flexible start and end times, or results-oriented work hours.

Whatever can provide your team with the best work/life balance will still be an important aspect to hiring and retaining key players.

A Focus on Video Content

For the last few years, social media has been the driving force of hiring initiatives. And it’s still true you’ll need a strong social media presence to communicate your brand not only to prospective customers, but also to possible future employees.

However, social media continues to evolve as well. The most clicked-on posts now are those that contain video. Companies are filming important aspects of their daily operations, interactions between employees and more to demonstrate their corporate culture. The video content shouldn’t be long form; just enough to attract someone’s attention.
