They say it’s not happy people who are thankful, but thankful people who are happy. We focus a lot on gratitude this time of year as families all across the United States celebrate Thanksgiving. And while this holiday has escaped a lot of the commercialization of it’s December counterpart, everyone can stand to incorporate more gratitude into their lives. The same is true for your business, and in many cases, the vendors that help you achieve success. So, how can you give thanks to your vendors this season? Here are five tips to get you started.
-
Thank them for their contribution.
Your vendors are a key part of your organization, but how often do you thank them for what they do for your business? Take some time this season to talk to your vendors and remind them why they are an essential part of your success.
-
Share how they helped you succeed.
Take this one step further and let them know the exact ways they contribute to your achievements in the business community. Be specific. This way, they better understand how sincere you are. Make this a part of your year-round gratitude as well.
-
Let them know they made your job easier.
Ultimately, your vendors are there to make your job easier. Tell them that. When we become complacent about the contributions of those who help us stay focused, we begin to take them for granted. If someone does something to take the pressure off you so you can focus on what you do best, they’re a worthwhile investment.
-
You can’t do this without them.
If you didn’t have access to these vendors, how would your business run? How would an average day look? Take some time to imagine your business as if it were in the plot of “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Understanding how everyone comes together gives you a new grateful perspective.
-
Handwrite that thank-you note.
Finally, once you’ve thought through all these things, put pen to paper and write a thank-you note. Don’t type it. Don’t send an email. Use a card with an envelope and a stamp and send your gratitude to them. There is nothing better than a surprise in the mail to bring a smile to someone’s face. And gratitude is contagious. Saying thank you to someone else gives them the tools they need to pass that on.
How can you show your gratitude this season?
